The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Over Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
