Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden cult.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This patch also adds the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Partnerships
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
